Meet Our Team
Dr. Donato J. Arguelles graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami and then spent one year in a full-time faculty teaching position as an Asst. Professor of Medicine, becoming the recipient of the highly acclaimed George Pfaff teaching award. This is given to the outstanding teaching faculty member as chosen by the UM medical students themselves. Dr. Arguelles then completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of Miami.
After completing his medical training, he passed the Certification testing by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the areas of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and finally in the exclusive Critical Care Medical specialties. Dr. Arguelles entered the private practice of Medicine and Cardiology in 1988, opening his office in the city of Coral Gables, and currently holds senior active staff positions in the Baptist Hospital Health System at Doctor’s and Baptist Hospitals, where he is Senior Active Staff. For over 20 years, he maintained a UM teaching affiliation and has tutored many medical students in his office. Nearly 20 years ago, Dr. Arguelles became a founding member and co-Medical director with www.MedicalStudentsinAction.com, a non-profit medical mission serving an impoverished area in the southern mountains of the Dominican Republic near Haiti. It was during medical mission work that he met his future associate Dr. Roberto Andino. Locally, Dr. Arguelles has been active in La Liga Contra el Cancer, extending his efforts in the medical care of indigent cancer patients.
Dr. Roberto Rene Andino, M.D. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, Florida, Dr. Andino knew he wanted to be a doctor from a young age. After graduating high school from Dade Christian School as the valedictorian of his class, Dr. Andino completed a Bachelors of Science in Neurobiology from the University of Miami in 2013. He later completed medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2017. Dr. Andino finished his medical residency specializing in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics as chief resident of Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Med/Peds division in 2021. After completing his medical training Dr. Andino passed the certification testing by the American Board of Medicine in the areas of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. “Dr. Andino’s lifelong devotion to community service and commitment to providing quality medical care brought him on six medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic between 2014-2016 with www.MedicalStudentsinAction.com, a non-profit medical mission serving an impoverished area in the southern mountains of the Dominican Republic near Haiti.”
The HCP staff includes Yvette Lorenzo, Certified Nuclear Technologist, Assistant Office Manager who runs the exercise and metabolic testing facility as well as the peripheral vascular and carotid laboratory. Rosy Suarez is in charge of Administrative duties and the Patient Portal for HCP. Vicky Duranona is responsible for Carotid Artery Testing (CIMT) and many aspects of direct patient care. Vicky Arguelles, HCP Office Manager, in charge of end to end office operations, administration, and patient billings. All of them have been valued members of the Gables Cardiovascular Center for over 20 years.
HCP is proud to introduce its most recent staff additions including Alexa Cintra, Yanet Rodriguez (primarily responsible for direct HCP patient care), Barbra Varona, a double licensed Cuban and Spanish physician with a keen understanding of “all things medical,” and finally our newest staff member, Marlen Limas who is handling clerical and logistical duties. HCP is honored to have such valuable staff to assist in the care of our patients.
