Dr. Donato J. Arguelles graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami and then spent one year in a full-time faculty teaching position as an Asst. Professor of Medicine, becoming the recipient of the highly acclaimed George Pfaff teaching award. This is given to the outstanding teaching faculty member as chosen by the UM medical students themselves. Dr. Arguelles then completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of Miami.

After completing his medical training, he passed the Certification testing by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the areas of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and finally in the exclusive Critical Care Medical specialties. Dr. Arguelles entered the private practice of Medicine and Cardiology in 1988, opening his office in the city of Coral Gables, and currently holds senior active staff positions in the Baptist Hospital Health System at Doctor’s and Baptist Hospitals, where he is Senior Active Staff. For over 20 years, he maintained a UM teaching affiliation and has tutored many medical students in his office. Nearly 20 years ago, Dr. Arguelles became a founding member and co-Medical director with www.MedicalStudentsinAction.com, a non-profit medical mission serving an impoverished area in the southern mountains of the Dominican Republic near Haiti. It was during medical mission work that he met his future associate Dr. Roberto Andino. Locally, Dr. Arguelles has been active in La Liga Contra el Cancer, extending his efforts in the medical care of indigent cancer patients.
